The IGU's working organisation covers the full value of the gas chain, from exploration and production, through pipelines and liquefied natural gas (LNG) transmission, to the distribution and combustion of gas at the point of use.
The IGU promotes non-discriminatory policies and sound contract principles and practices in international trade, encouraging the development of technologies that enhance the environmental benefits of gas and furthering the safe production, transmission, distribution and utilisation of gas.
