In 2008, in the natural gas distribution market; It was established as an economic enterprise and Technical Centre of GAZBİR in order to consolidate training, certification, audit, R&D and technical studies on behalf of the sector. As its founding mission, GAZMER has taken the structure of the German Association of Gas and Water Technical Men (DVGW), which has a semi-legal status and has become a successful structure on a sectoral basis, as an example.
The main objective is the formation of a secure natural gas market in which the quality of the system, product and labour force is increased.
Efforts to increase the quality of labour force;
Within the scope of the protocol signed with the Vocational Qualifications Authority MYK, "Natural Gas Occupational Standards" were prepared in 11 fields ahead of all other sectors in our country and published in the Official Gazette in 2009. Subsequently, qualifications in this field were prepared.
In 2010, it was the only structure in the energy sector to benefit from the EU funds offered to strengthen the infrastructure of the Vocational Qualifications Authority. At the end of the project, GAZBİR-GAZMER Natural Gas Professions Examination and Certification Centre (Voc-Test Centre) was successfully established.
In 2012, it became an "Authorised Examination and Certification Body" by the Vocational Qualifications Authority.
A technical training structure was established; over 10,000 man/day training services were provided in 3 years, primarily for distribution company personnel and fire brigade personnel.
Since 2011, GAZMER has been teaching ME-471 "Natural Gas Applications" course at Marmara University Faculty of Engineering.
Efforts to increase product safety;
Active activities are carried out with the membership of MTC-105 Mirror Committee, GAZTEK, BASTEK and SAYKOM within TSE and Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology.
In accordance with the legislation, in order to ensure product safety, "Certificate Monitoring System" was established by consolidating the duplicate certificate control procedures performed by distribution companies. The system has reached a structure with the largest inventory covering the technical content of all products used in the gas sector in Turkey.
With periodic meetings held with the Ministry, TSE and manufacturers; developments and changes in national and international standards are adapted to the sector.
R&D studies;
Product and system based studies are carried out for more efficient use of natural gas. "OPTIGAS2" project was carried out with organisations such as Bremen University and Cardinal College within the scope of EU funds.
Studies have been carried out with the Japan Gas Association and organisations regarding the construction of internal installations with flexible connection systems, and implementation has been initiated in 45 provinces as an alternative installation model.
System security studies;
Technical committees work on technical issues within the scope of the legislation.
Workshops are organised for current issues and organisations are held with relevant institutions and organisations for information and technology transfer.
"Common Internal Installation and Industrial Facility Technical Principles" studies are carried out for the distribution sector.
It has initiated work to establish common technical principles for investment materials.
It continues its activities with 17 professionals, mainly engineers, and 85 volunteer personnel working in commissions established from the expert staff of GAZBİR member distribution companies. GAZBİR-GAZMER will carry out more effective activities in the coming periods by establishing a strategy and international relations department.
